Commodore Bulletin 16 - 280225

Published 12:04 on 28 Feb 2025

Well I will keep this one short, because it is less than two weeks until the club restarts for our 2025 sailing season!

At the moment we have over 30 people signed up for Saturday 8th March so firstly a huge thank-you to everyone who once again has put their names forward. Each year the number of people supporting the opening and closing continues to grow. I dont know whether its the free breakfast bap or the general chit chat on the foreshore that continues to make this grow but once again, thank you. We will communicate the code to those helping next week.

Dont forget if you are coming down to help, you can bring your boat and pick a spot on the Saturday but please no rigging or fettling until all jobs are done.

As well as moving the club boats down from the patio and clubhouse, the team have identified a few activities that need to be done so please keep checking back with the committee until everything is done.

All other members will have the gate code released on Sunday 9th via a webcollect email for you to start bringing your boats down then.

Another thing that is new this season is that the club has moved forward with our internet connection! We now have full fibre in the clubhouse and the race control office which should provide a nice stable platform for the webcams, the weather station and allow us to stream training videos. We will be changing our galley and bar EPOS system in the next few weeks and have the option of trialling a limited guest and membership wi-fi service should we feel that is appropriate.

This year following a request from the paddlers and our desire to continue to improve the foreshore, the committee reserved funds to create dedicated racking for members with non inflatable paddled boats such as Kayaks and Windsurf boards. Members can book these as part of the membership package and for this year we will be moving to an off the floor storage for these types of boats. Unless you are a sailor who is storing a kayak on top of your dinghy, we are asking all paddling type items to be booked with a place on the rack. We are keeping the cost for this very low considering the investment. To be consistent with our charging policy, the use of the SUP storage shed going forward will also have a small charge which we are asking members who use this facility to add to their membership.

A final small change we are making this year, is to reduce our cost of postage and therefore we are changing how we distribute membership information. Your initial information will be sent via email to the address you registered on Webcollect. Following that, your boat and car stickers will be put in an envelope with your name on it and placed in a collection box in the clubhouse. Once we sort the right location for this we will clearly communicate where these can be picked up from.

I will be sending out another bulletin in the next few days regarding our updated Junior Sailing Program. Keep your eyes peeled!

As I said, a short one.

Looking forward to seeing every one back and the club coming to life again!

Rob
