2026 Sailing Challenges

Published 15:57 on 2 Dec 2025

Hi all,

A few people have messaged me to ask if we are continuing the sailing challenges into 2026 and of course the answer is YES....

We are planning on definitely keeping the 5-4-1 and the long distance challenge. If any more pop up I will add them in, but for those who want reminding about them here goes:

The 5-4-1 and long distance challenges are open challenges which can be undertaken by any member in any boat as many times as they like on any day throughout the year. The basic rules are as follows:

  1. They are self timed, you do the run, record your time and whatsapp it into the club admin (currently Rob Sloggett for this year)
  2. Time is adjusted for PY.
  3. Top places for Monohull, Multihull and Junior-helm
  4. Courses can be reversed in the event of a different prevailing wind direction. Competitors decision.
  5. The courses are as follows:
    • For the 5-4-1 challenge
      • X-5s-4s-1s-X OR X-1p-4p-5p-X
    • For the long distance challenge
      • X-Weather Station s-1s-X OR X-1p-Weather Station p-X

Enjoy, and I look forward to seeing some times on the board. If you want to have a look at last years results they can be found here.

Top times for the 5-4-1 in 2025 were:

Monohull - Andy Todd (RS100) - Elapsed = 11:26 Corrected = 11:03 (Conditions SW 14 knots)

Multihull - Dave Ansell & Andy Bovington (Dart 16 no kite) - Elapsed = 10:09 Corrected = 11:24 (Conditions SW 13 knots)

Junior in helm position - Tom McIntyre (RS Tera Sport) - Elapsed 17:40 Corrected 12:14 (Conditions SW 12 knots)
